Developing communities by developing people. We aim to improve the quality of life of disadvantaged people in a specific community by addressing their needs and concerns amongst others being, poverty, drug addiction and lack of education.

Durban and surrounding areas are covered by a high rate of unemployment, substance abuse, hunger and poverty, thus the Sibusisiwe Community Development seeks to promote and re-instill the culture of ubuntu in our community, promote engagement with others, and build a strong and diverse community.

Skills Development

Along with fostering a spirit of entrepreneurship, we will offer through identified relevant facilities a range of skill development courses to help vulnerable women in order to improve their economic status and develop their skills and knowledge that can be put to use to start earning a living thereby reducing hunger and malnutrition, to the unemployed, children and elderly.

Early Childhood Development

Recent scientific research has proven that learning and mental development begin immediately after birth. During the first three years of a child’s life, essential brain and neural development occurs. Therefore, children greatly benefit by receiving education before kindergarten. In the disadvantaged community, the caregivers do not have relevant skills therefore cannot give proper education to the children thus the children do not benefit from their teachers.

The organization then focuses on unskilled caregivers who work in a variety of ECD settings to acquire through identified ECD training facilities an ECD Level 1 qualification, in order to advance their ECD career path. ECD training will ensure young children develop to their full potential in line with their rights and needs.

Awareness Campaigns

Through our Awareness campaigns and with the assistance of other government stakeholders, we educate, encourage and assist unemployed women to grow their own vegetables on their backyards to improve their economic and nutritional value and examine any and all options available to develop an income stream for themselves.

With the assistance of the Department of Agriculture, we also encourage, teach and assist unemployed women to grow their own vegetables in their backyard to improve their economic and nutritional status.

Substance Abuse

The organisation, in collaboration with the Social Development Department also seeks to identify substance users which include adults and children in the streets and refer to relevant rehabilitation centers and implement reintegration and aftercare services.
